6 Tips for Surviving Finals!

First and foremost let me apologize for not posting in who knows how long! However, I come with the gift of advice for the dreaded finals week! I have ended my semester which means I have survived finals, earlier than most I know but I am so happy to be done! For those of you who are like me and procrastinate until the week before to start getting prepared here are some tips I think that will help you get through!
  1. Get organized: Map out a plan of what you're going to study and when and also when you plan to complete other assignments that are due. This helps you to stay on track and not get too distracted, or forget what needs to be done.
  2. Be prepared with snacks and water: Everyone loves food! And let's face it, you know that you're more than likely going to forget when having huge study sessions so make sure when you head to the library or wherever you may go to study that you pack snacks! Water is also important because you need to stay hydrated!
  3. Take breaks: This is a good way to reward yourself for getting work done and it also gives your brain break so it doesn't get exhausted and this way you won't feel overwhelmed. Studying is definitely more effective with periodical breaks so try doing 50 minutes of studying and taking a 15-20 minutes.
  4. Mix group studying and solo studying: I prefer to study alone with friends. Meaning I have the company of friends when I take my breaks but we individually work on different assignments. However group or partner studying is good for those of you who have social self control and won't get too distracted. It helps to have others brains there because everyone learns and retains knowledge differently and you can learn from others ways.
  5. Get some sleep: I am the QUEEN of all nighters and I know it can be tempting to just stay up all night and study. However, the sleepier you are the more tired your brain most likely is which means you may not even retain the information your cramming in your head. Especially if its the day before the final. If you don't know the material by now you won't be able to learn it the night before the exam. So just go for the extra sleep and hope for the best!
  6. Be confident and accept your best: If you did your study guides and practice quizzes/tests along with extra studying then you now your abilities. Do not stress too much because test anxiety is real and it can and will have an impact on your performance. Try your hardest and when it is all over just believe that you prepared the best you could and give it all you've got!

Celebrate when finals are over! Whether it be going out with friends, shopping, or catching up on sleep! Just make sure you celebrate that you got through yet another year!

Good luck on your finals
Until next time...

Useless Updates

I know that it has quite a long time since I have updated or even made a simple post to the blog but it's finals season and I've had a lot going on. With that said, I figured I would update you guys on what has been going on with my life recently.

Let's start with the small stuff. I went with my RA's and some people from my dorm floor on a night hike. My best friend Imani and I had a blast! It was a little harder than I originally thought but it was a lot of fun!

My roommate Edie's besfriend Krista came to visit us for her spring break last week! It was so fun to finally get to meet her. We have talked to her over facetime with Edie before but meeting her in person was so much better. She's so much fun and a great person to be around.

The day before Krista left I had to go to the ER because I have a pinched nerve in my neck and it's been affecting my neck, shoulder, back, and arms. It's horrible honestly! But they gave me medicine to fix it and it's slowly but surely getting better!

The last day she was here we all went to brunch at this place called N Counter and it was DELICIOUS! If you live in the Tempe area then you should check it out! And of course the roomies and I had to get a roomie pic! We have to get as many as we can before we leave for the summer! :) Thankfully we are all rooming together next year!

Last but definitely not least, on saturday I went to relay for life. Above is a picture from last year (left) and this year (right). I just want to say that I did not expect my hair to grow this fast! I'm so excited about it and I can't wait to see how long it is next year! Relay for life was awesome as always and so much fun! I went with my mom, imani, and my good friend amberlee. We had a good time and I can't wait for next years relay for life. It's always amazing to see so many survivors in one place. It truly makes my heart happy.

Well, that's all for my useless updates. I hope to be posting something about finals soon, but until then good luck on your studying and life.

Until next time..

Oregon - Part 2

I was supposed to upload part 2 a couple days ago but school got in the way and I didn't have time to do it. Thankfully this weekend isn't packed with homework and I have a pretty open day!

We went to the coast and I got to see this historical lighthouse and that was really awesome! It was a chill day, very relaxed. We mostly drove down the coast to see some beaches. It lasted all day but it took like 3 hours to get there!

The second day was so great and I really enjoyed myself a lot.

My third day there wasn't anything special. I stayed at my uncle's house while he and my grandma went out and spent some time together. I needed a day to just sleep and relax because school can get so stressful.

I went to this awesome coffee shop on the third day after my uncle and grandma returned home. It was a very laid back place and I loved it! I got a really cool mug from there. The coffee shop is called The Barn Light for those of you who ever decide to go to Eugene, Oregon.
Now looking forward to finishing out this school year strong. I'll be posting some tips on finals soon, so be sure to look out for those!
Until next time..
